Morgan as Unit Chief
Oct 22 2009, 4:39 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 22 2009, 4:50 PM EDT
Since last night's episode raised a lot of eyebrows I wanted to know how do you feel about Hotch stepping down, and promoting Morgan to Unit Chief.
And for how long is it going to take?

Personally,I don't think it was a bad decision.
I strongly believe that Morgan will be able to lead the team... Of course,it will take some time getting used to,but all in all,I think he's going to make it. :)

So,what do you think?

Ah...as a Hotch fan, I was unhappy with this and hope it's not permanent. While I admire Hotch and the decision that he made, after 4+ seasons, I just can't see anyone else leading the team. While Morgan may be capable, he is more of an action person, he will not like doing the paperwork, getting bogged down by red tape and answering to anyone but his direct supervisor. He will find he's under more scrutiny... not to mention those nicely fitted t-shirts and jeans... will he have to dress up like Hotch in a suit and tie? That will be a major bummer!

I just can't see Morgan remaining in that role for a long period of time. He is not a suit/tie person and he's definitely not paperwork. As Hotch said, he's always done them for him so he didn't have to do them himself. I can't see Morgan extending the same courtesy to the team.

Definitely not anti-Morgan but, I'm not sure the dynamics would work out under Morgan's leadership. Case in point is last week's episode when Garcia tried to warn him of getting to close, yet he did what she tried to talk him out of anyway. As Hotch pointed out n season 4, Morgan still needs to continue to learn to trust the team. He's vocal, sure, but has he worked out all his issues to trust everyone? Can he see everyone the same way Hotch does in order to supervise them?

While I think Morgan is perfectly capable of leading the team, I can also see Hotch still really involved in leading the team. Morgan is only doing this to save the team and I can see-at first anyway-him still having Hotch have a lot of say. Do you find this valuable?

Morgan's more than capable, but personally I just don't think it's the right fit for him. I'm glad it's only going to be until Strauss gets off Hotch's back. However, I thought that scene was wonderful. It was beautifully scripted and directed, and Shemar and Thomas totally brought the raw emotion to the table. Do you find this valuable?

I think he will make a good unit chief. But in this unit, it will be a little more difficult. Being friends with co-workers is totally different than being friends with them as the Boss, the team and the image of the FBI will always have to come first and this will mean firstly tough decisions will have to be made and secondly a LOT MORE paperwork will have to be done.

I am worried about Hotch. Morgan asked the right question:

"How much more will Foyette take away from Hotch before he has more scars on the inside than on the outside?"

I am also wondering if he can step back and let someone else be the leader. When you are accustomed calling the shots, it is hard to go back to be the one receiving the orders. But as always he made a decision that would keep the team together. He has always done that.

Personally, I would like Foyette to get fed of up of not killing and decide to up the anty, take away Strauss' son. Let's see how she makes decision with that over her head.

I think the seed of Morgan's short term have been planted. Remember when Garcia warned him about being too close to the girl who lost her brother. Morgan's emotional involvement will be his downfall. Morgan is more muscle - Hoch is more brains. The team needs both! Do you find this valuable?

I like Morgan, but not as the Unit Chief. That is Hotch's position. Do you find this valuable?

Hell,I'd pay to see it! LOL

I think that he is doing a good job, being unit chief... Like him in suits. ^^
Though,I must say,no suit and tie can beat short sleeves! :P

Morgan is perfectly capeable of directing the team. Hotch made the right decesion. Under the circumstances, Strauss was on a MAJOR hunt and would have done ANYTHING to get rid of Hotch, then the team would have been totally screwed. Someone entirely new that did not work well with the team. At least Derek is there and they are working TOGTHER as a team that they know and they can trust. So hell yes Derek can do it. Give him a chance. Do you find this valuable?

As we are all aware, hotch has stepped down from his role as team leader, and appointed the job to Morgan which i believe was the right thing as morgan is perfectly capable of handling the team, and considering the circumstances that if he didn't step down the team would be seperated and there would be no more BAU as we know it. Hotch was a wonderful team leader, and to all of the hotch fans, the change is not permanent. i do however believe that Morgan will also be a good unit chief, and as all of you are aware from watching the first episode of Morgan being the leader, he did everything that hotch would have done in that situation (however hotch did what morgan would have done, so it is pretty much like themselves, just in the others body). No. He may make a good one but only temporarily.
Hotch is "unit chief" and always will be...I;m glad he's coming back. There's not enough laughing like there was before he stepped down. It's much more serious.
