David Rossi SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't stand this guy. He makes the show seem less interesting, He throws the whole team off. I use to wait every week for a new show, but now I love the re runs without him in it. Come on CBS get rid of him, and find someone better or leave the team as is.

CBS isn't going to get rid of Rossi. Is it even their decision? Networks might sometimes tell showrunners who to hire, but I don't think they tell who to fire, unless there's some backstage problems. But, merely having the audience dislike a character who's a part of the main cast isn't enough to make them press the issue of getting rid of someone -especially when it's only part of the audience.Not that I like Rossi. Although I don't think he particularly does anything to the team when the writers write for the team, rather than for him -Penelope and Birthright were the first episodes with him that weren't all about him. And, just to clarify, my dislike of him has nothing to do with him being new. I liked Prentiss right away, even when most people disliked her. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

As you can see I like him. I say give the guy a chance. He's not Gideon. I didn't like the 1st episode with him but not because of him but the way the writers portrayed him. I think he'll grow on you.

Well, not everything is a competition between him and Gideon. I'm sure he will grow on some people -and one of those people might be me. But, it's just as likely that he won't. Because there are more reasons to dislike him than not giving him a chance -just like every other character on the show (all of whom have had since at least early season two for people to get used to them) has reasons why some people might dislike them. There's more to Rossi, good or bad, than the fact that he's not Gideon and the fact that he's new. He's got a personality, he's got actions that he's made on the show so far, he's got how he's interacted with others. All of those things build up a character that can be likable or unlikable, depending on how you see them.Of course, some people probably *do* dislike him because he's not Gideon or because he's new, but some people have given him a chance. I don't believe in snap judgments, but I don't think you have to wait for months of episodes to form an opinion. I do believe some people were set to dislike him sight unseen, and they haven't given him a chance (of course, it's likely they're minds wouldn't change anyway) but I just wanted to say that disliking him is a valid viewpoint, as well as liking him. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. I have to say I did hate him when he first came on the show. I missed Gideon and did not want anybody to try to take his place (like anybody could). I am glad the writers made his character so different. I am beginning to like him. In the past two new shows he has become more of a team member. I think I could grow to really like him. Maybe we should give him more time and shows before we make a hard decision on him. This is such a good show that I don't think any one person could totally ruined the entire show. We have all the other team members who are just wonderful in their parts.

Well, the Super Dave Trifecta (his first three episodes) are some of my least favorites of the series, although I found Identity to be the least annoying of the three. But, I don't think he ruined the *team*. Because I agree that no one person has the power to ruin the entire team. Besides which, it gives Rossi too much power and again pushes the rest of the cast down. But, how long did it take people to make a decision on the other characters? Opinions can change later on (I didn't even have an opinion on Hotch until well into last season, and then he was only fourth in my list of favorite characters, so I know an opinion you form at one point can change, but it doesn't mean it wasn't valid for that time). On the other hand, Ioved Reid right away. At least by the same amount of episodes that Rossi's been in. Should I have waited to see if my like would hold up? A different personaility. It might take some longer to accept him and some may never accept him but my motto is give everyone a chance first to prove their worth. In the first episode, Rossi sort of went out and worked on his own without consulting the team. But he is of a different era and things were done different before he went into retirement. Joe Montenga is a great talent. I love his acting and am glad he is on my favorite show. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I am with you Bessie Mae, I loved Reid from the pliot when he asked Hotch if he knew why Gideon always introducted him as Dr. Reid. He is just so easy to love. It is such a wonderful show that like you said no one person could take it down.

The rushing off on his own is less problematic, given the whole "that's how it was done" thing. Even though it wasn't like he wasn't aware that things had changed, since he saw the team sharing ideas together. But, he still seems to have adjusted on that score. What annoyed me was him throwing Hotch's separation from Haley in his face, which was completely off the topic of what Hotch was reprimanding him about. Hotch wasn't saying that Rossi had to tell him if he was in a new relationship or personal. Responding like that just made it seem like Rossi didn't like the idea that a guy he used to be above could actually give him a talking to. That, and other things about his personality just irk me. But, I'm not sure if they irk me completely because I just don't like them, or if I'd be as irritated if those traits were in other characters. Rossi is obviously a good guy (they wouldn't introduce a villain), I just haven't seen any likable qualities to counteract the unlikable ones. But, that's just me.

Bessie_Mae - that annoyed me his first episode as well. He told Strauss that he wouldn't have an issue answering to Hotch; but when Hotch called him on his behavior and all he said was "you have nothing left to prove" and Rossi tossed in his face about his separation. No reason for that; the difference is, Hotch isn't letting his personal life interefer with is professional life; he's drawn the line as much as he can. He's the leader and has to set an example and Rossi was wrong for calling him on it.

I just believe people need to get used to the fact that new things, do indeed, take time to get used to. If you continue to focus on one aspect, then you'll never get used to it. If you continue to throw fire, your burns will never heal.

I'm just wondering, if the show is still going strong two seasons from now (fingers crossed) is anyone who dislikes Rossi then going to be told give him a chance or that they never gave him a chance. What's the cut off date, and is that date the same for every person? I'm assuming people who like Rossi like him because he has qualities they find appealing. It's not just a certain amount of time passed and it was the right time to like him. Same thing the other way, and as long as a person isn't saying something that they only don't like him because he's new or he's replacing Gideon I think some benefit of the doubt that they're judging him on his own merit. And, it's not just that one thing. A bunch of other things rub me the wrong way. Probably small things (and some people might see the exact same qualities and say those are the exact reasons they *do*like him), but like I said, there's nothing *I've* seen ( people who like him probably see a lot of things) that counters the things that annoy me. I just mentioned that because the subject of him going off on his own came up, and I was just saying that in itself wasn't what I had a problem with in that situation. And, I didn't name anything else because I didn't want to go into a whole song and dance of the many annoyances of Dave Rossi. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I didn't like his throwing up the separation either but he did show real concern on the last new show when Hotch got the papers. I would think it would be hard to answer to a person you had been over and is younger than you are. I did like that he called Strauss by her first name - showing her no respect. She doesn't deserve any. I liked the way he wanted to help Morgan with his religion but I would not have gone about it the way he did but that is the way guys did it in his day. He has good and bad points just like all of us. He is showing a better side in the last two new shows - more of a team member and it takes time to get comfortable with a group of younger people who look up to you. I sure he feels he is being tested at every point. Can’t wait for the new show tonight!

Thank you 1hotchfan. I think tonight's show (3rd Life) was so good. Rossi was good and the other team members had their time also. It was balanced. I liked that Morgan reached out to Reid with a hand on his shoulder - like Gideon often did. Hotch and Reid were both very good and those vest - ummm - they always make the show.

One good Rossi thing. He actually didn't know something. *passes out from the shock* He had no idea, even when they found out that the guy was a marshal, that Jack was in the Witness Protection program. Morgan figured it out and had to tell Rossi when he asked. Even resident genius Reid has to ask questions and learn information sometimes, so it warmed my little twisted heart to hear Rossi be totally in the dark over at least one thing.
