Biography:
A highly acclaimed theatrical performer, Kirsten Vangsness is currently a member of Theatre of Note in Hollywood, California. Her character, Garcia, was originally introduced in a recurring capacity, but Vangsness was quickly added to the main cast during the first season. In addition to her role on Criminal Minds, she has appeared in the series "LAX" and "Phil of the Future."

- Was the 2005 recipient of the LA Drama Critics Circle Natalie Shafer Award for: Best Emerging Comedic Actress.
- Was made a series regular on Criminal Minds in early 2006 after she guest starred in several episodes.

Congratulations to Kirsten! She announced her engagement to long-time girlfriend, Melanie Goldstein today on People.Com. They became engaged in November 2008 and will wed this spring! Best wishes to both Kirsten & Melanie!!!

Kirsten, you are currently my favorite character on TV. You bring something to this show that nobody else can, reality check. Throughout the drama and insanity there you are giving a lifeline of reality to each of the characters and making the viewer feel comfortable with the trauma going on around everyone. I would give anything to see NCIS' Abby guest star with you, she is my other favorite on TV right now. The two of you together would totally rock the place! I wish you the best of luck in 2009. And give Zander a kiss for me, he was my favorite for years on Buffy.
