| Season 2 | (Rossi did not appear until Season 3) |
| Season 3 | 3x06 "About Face" - Rossi asked to come out of retirement to fill the vacancy on the BAU. Rossi came in with an agenda which appears to be an unsolved past case involving a family with 3 children. He takes notes unlike the others, and appears to be a loner. Rossi leaked information to the press that Hotch has asked to have sequestered and he and Hotch butted heads briefly. In the end, he understood things about the team and pointed them out to Hotch, like how he was separated from his family but Hotch let him know that he, Rossi, had nothing to prove; he'd done it already. 3x07 "Identity" - It was revealed that Rossi is 52 years old and he is Catholic. Also while in Montana on the case, it was revealed that Rossi had been there during the Ruby Ridge standoff. He and Morgan seemed at odds because Morgan wanted to know why he came back and Rossi simply replied that it was due to unfinished business. Morgan told Rossi, he would eventually find out, because he was relentless. 3x11 "Birthright" - Rossi revealed to Sheriff Caulfield that he carried around a charm bracelet with the names of 3 children on them. They were the names of 3 children from one of his early cases, who had watched their parents being beaten to death on Christmas Eve. He had promised the children that he would find out who killed their parents and each year he called them Christmas Eve to let them know he hadn't forgotten and was still searching for the unsub. He also admitted the year before, none of the children had returned his calls. In the end, Rossi admitted to Sheriff Caulfield that the case had remained unsolved for 21 years. 3x12 "Limelight" - Rossi meets Jill Morris, the FBI agent working a case that the BAU agreed to help handle. He learns she planted a hair; the only physical evidence and was the only reason the BAU joined the case, and he tries to tell her to fix her ways and turn her career around. He tells Hotch that it's not too late for her. At the end of the episode he escorts her out of the hospital and she walks away from him to a group of reporters. He glares at her and she ignores him. Rossi is clearly disappointed. 3x14 "Damaged" - Rossi awakens with nightmares from his 21-year-old unsolved case. He returned to the scene of the crime and we learned that he had bought the home of the parents that were murdered 2 years after their deaths. He admitted the grandmother needed the money to help raise the 3 children that were left behind. At first, Rossi wanted to go solo, but Morgan, JJ and Prentiss showed up to stand by and help him. With their help and Morgan's speciality in Obssessional Crimes, they are able to realize that the killer was a mentally handicapped boy who only wanted to play. He never meant the parents harm but showed up at the house to "play" with the oldest girl, Connie, and the father took an axe to him and the unsub fought back and accidentally killed the parents. Joe was a clown who made balloon animals and his father covered up the crime to protect his son. Rossi turned over the house, keys and title to the 3 children at the end, to do what they wanted with it. He had been taking care of it and having it cleaned on a regular basis. He gave the oldest, Connie, back her mother's bracelet but Connie gave it back; wanting Rossi to have it. 3x18 "The Crossing" - Rossi and Hotch attended a conference in Boston. Hotch opened up about his failed marriage to Rossi. Rossi said he'd been married three times and divorced. He said he wasn't opposed to marriage, it just didn't work for him. He admitted he had no children and the only people who got rich off of him were the divorce lawyers. In the end when he left the office, Rossi stopped and watched Hotch working late at his desk with no intention of going home. |
