The Last Word


Synopsis:
The daughter of high-powered diplomats, Special Agent Emily Prentiss joins the team, and she must convince Gideon and Hotchner she deserves the job based on merit and not on her family connections. The BAU is then called to St. Louis to investigate two serial killers who appear to be competing with each other. By setting a trap based on one killer's profile, the team creates a media event by which to capture the second killer.

  • Gideon: (to the Mill Creek Killer) "If killing those women made you an artist, the things you did to them after they were dead, what does that make you? I mean, really, it doesn’t seem very artistic, does it?"
  • Agent Sheridan: "Sunny? Holden?"
    Hotch: "They're characters from Catcher in the Rye."
    Reid: "Widely accepted as a beloved book of sociopaths. Mark David Chapman quoted it after killing John Lennon."
    Hotch: "Deranged minds identify with Holden’s alienation and detachment."

The turning point in the investigation:
When Reid discovers that the two killers are talking through the personal ads in the newspaper. They covered their tracks very well and used cash. Their nicknames are Holden and Sunny – two characters from Catcher in the Rye, a book about sociopaths. He also discovers that the Mill Creek Killer is dumping the bodies in a forest 3 days apart and realizes that is when the Ranger's schedule rotates.


Whodunit?
The Mill Creek Killer targets educated middle-class woman. The Hollow Man kills prostitutes, yet he doesn’t rape them and he doesn’t seem to want to touch them. They set up the Mill Creek Killer and ambushed him in the forest and JJ did a press conference insinuating the other victims were that of a copycat killer. This infuriated the Hollow Man, who walked into the FBI Building and was taken down by Hotch.

The listing says that the hollow man walks into the FBI building and is taken down by Hotch, this is not true he was taken down by Morgan not Hotch
