Synopsis:
The BAU is asked to identify a killer who is shooting at victims in broad daylight, and the team works with local law enforcement officers to recreate one of the shootings.

Best Moments Between Characters:

  • Reid fails his shooting qualifications and Gideon tells the team not to bug him about it. But when Reid walks back into the office, Morgan presents him with a whistle and tells him to use it to blow for help.
  • Hotch and Reid are held hostage by Dowd in the ER. Hotch pretends to sympathize and play along with Dowd, so as to move the hostages around and get Reid to his 2nd gun... by "kicking the snot out of this kid." Reid nails the unsub in the forehead. Hotch, after having to gain the unsubs trust and humiliate Reid, apologizes to him and tells him as far as he is concerned, Reid is qualified to carry a gun.

Best Lines:
  • Det. Clavin: "So what's the profile on one of these guys?"
    Gideon: "Arrogant, conceited, feels superior to everyone around them."
    Det. Clavin: (laughing) "You've just described every surgeon I've ever met."
  • Hotch: (after Reid hits the target in the groin area) "Did Elle teach you that?"
  • Reid to Gideon: "Without my gun, I look like a teacher's assistant."

  • Dowd: "You are one sick dude!"
    Hotch: "How do you think I found you?"

  • Hotch: (while kicking Reid) "How smart are you now, smart guy? It's front sight, trigger press, follow through! It's not that hard! A Dalmatian could do it!"

  • Hotch: "I didn't hurt you did I?"
    Reid: "Hotch, I was a twelve year old child prodigy in a Las Vegas public high school; you kick like a nine year old girl."

The turning point in the investigation:
When Morgan asks Garcia to work on the geographic of the crime scenes. She is able to pin down that it has to do with 2 hospitals. From there the team realizes it's a doctor or nurse, someone who wants to "save the day" and be a hero.

Whodunit?
Phillip Dowd who works in both hospitals as an ER nurse where the victims are brought. He is a nobody looking to be a somebody and figures if he can save the victims, it makes him a hero.

This episode was so good, when the guy was in the back of the car and was pointing his gun at Elle and every one else including JJ i was so scared espiclly for JJ and Elle because they are my favorite no matter what and i wish Elle was still there, But when the guy shot Scotty..... it was so cute how Gideon put JJ under him to block her from any deadly shots the guy would have took that might hit her. Gideon treats Reid and JJ like his kids by far and the accosional time Elle but i found that part adorablee all the way. Its a breathtaking episode espiclly when Hotch PRETENDS to beat the living daylights out of Reid, that was very sad. But yes i am a hug fan of this episode as i am for many others too.

this is deffintily the best in seson 1. i yelled @ th tv when tht bastard dowd hit reid. ::blushes:: cuz me hearts me sum child prodigy:D
